Independence Seaport Museum

Located at Delaware Avenue and Walnut Street

Maritime heritage is the theme. Interactive exhibits invite the visitor to use hands-on technology to share a variety of experiences associated with the Delaware River and Bay. Great insight into the lives of American sailors.The USS Olympia is outside the museum in the Historic Ship Zone, along with the submarine USS Becuna, one of the few surviving World War II vessels on display in the country.

Academy of Music

Located in Broad and Locust Streets. The only surviving European-style opera house in America and is home to the Opera Company of Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania Ballet.

Box office hours Monday to Saturday 10 am - 5:30 pm and open until 8:30 pm on event nights.

University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology

See life in ancient Egypt, stand in one of the world's best preserved Egyptian royal palaces and meet a Sphinx that is located on the Pennsylvania University Campus. The Chinese Rotunda has excellent art and history.

Historical Society of Pennsylvania

Located at 1300 Locust Street in Philadelphia. The museum has several of America's most historical documents, more than 5,000 books, many thousands of graphics and 15 million manuscript items.

Open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 9:30 am - 4:45 pm, Wednesday: 1 pm - 8:45 pm.

African-American Museum

Located at 7th and Arch Street. Dedicated to the collection and preservation of cultural material that chronicles and illustrates the African American experience in Philadelphia, the Delaware Valley and the Americas. There are 400,000 objects and images.

Academy of Natural Sciences

Located at 19th Street in Philadelphia. Great museum for all ages - interactive, visit the Mesozoic period, view fossils, study 160 million years of dinosaur history and get familiar with a Giganotosaurus, at 45 feet long.
